Meanwhile, Natarajan, who had held the Purple Cap for a short duration, finds himself in the second position after Bumrah’s remarkable surge. Despite his commendable efforts for the Sunrisers, Natarajan’s figures of 8 matches played and 15 wickets at an economy rate of 8.97 couldn’t withstand Bumrah’s relentless pursuit of excellence.

Mustafizur Rahman goes to third position

The battle for supremacy in the IPL’s bowling department has intensified with each passing match, with Mustafizur Rahman from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) closely trailing behind in the third position. Rahman’s contribution to Chennai’s bowling attack has been invaluable, as he has claimed 14 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 9.26. Though, he is likely to be overtaken by other bowlers as he has left the cash-rich league due to international commitments for Bangladesh.

Harshal Patel, Sunil Narine in close competition

Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunil Narine of the Knight Riders occupy the fourth and fifth positions respectively in the Purple Cap race. Patel has showcased his bowling prowess with 14 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 10.24, while Narine has been a consistent performer for Kolkata with 13 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 6.73.

Rising stars keep themselves alive in the race

The emergence of young talents and mystery spinners like Matheesha Pathirana from CSK and Varun Chakravarthy from KKR further adds excitement to the IPL’s bowling landscape. Pathirana has impressed with 13 wickets in 6 matches at an economy rate of 7.68, while Chakravarthy has been a vital cog in Kolkata’s bowling wheel with 13 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 8.65.

Additionally, the eighth, ninth and tenth positions have been acquired by Yuzvendra Chahal (13 wickets in 10 games), Arshdeep Singh (13 wickets in 10 games) and Gerald Coetzee (13 wickets in 10 games).
