Team India’s Shubman Gill joins global singing star Ed Sheeran for a game of cricket



Shubman Gill, the cricket sensation from India, recently shared a memorable moment with global music icon Ed Sheeran during the singer’s ongoing visit to Mumbai. Ed Sheeran, who is in India for an upcoming concert at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse on March 16 as part of his Mathematics tour, took time to experience the city’s vibrant culture. Arriving a few days prior to the concert, Sheeran engaged with local communities, including visiting schools to interact with children.

A unique cricket encounter: Shubman Gill and Ed Sheeran

Sheeran further experienced a unique encounter with the cricketing world when he joined Shubman Gill in a friendly game of cricket on Wednesday (March 13). Gill, known as Indian cricket’s ‘prince,’ recently concluded a successful Test series against England in Dharamsala. Hosting Sheeran in a cricket match, Gill introduced the global star to the essence of Indian sporting culture. Entertainment outlook Zoom TV shared glimpses of this meeting on Instagram, showcasing both stars on their respective fields.

In the snapshots, Sheeran is seen sporting a casual white t-shirt, black half pants, and sneakers, while Gill exudes athleticism in a white sleeveless shirt and black trousers.

Gill takes on new role as captain of Gujarat Titans

Interestingly, Gill is set to embark on a new role as a captain this year. Following Hardik Pandya‘s return to Mumbai Indians (MI) in a high-profile trade deal, Gill was appointed as his successor to lead the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the upcoming 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sheeran set to thrill Mumbai with final leg of Mathematics tour

On the musical front, Ed Sheeran is gearing up for his much-anticipated performance in Mumbai, marking the final leg of his +–=÷× Tour (Mathematics) on March 16. This concert is part of his extensive Asia and Europe Tour in 2024, with Sheeran’s last appearance in India dating back to his Divide Tour in 2017. Fans can anticipate a diverse setlist comprising tracks from his latest albums Subtract and Autumn Variations, along with hits from his earlier albums, including Plus, Multiply, Divide, and Equals.
