K-Pop Group’s Possible Last-Ever Fanmeeting Descends Into Chaos

A virtual K-Pop fanmeeting went wrong and is now garnering attention on social media.

TAN is a seven-member K-Pop boy group that debuted in 2022 under Think Entertainment following the MBC survival competition show Wild Idol. The group consists of Changsun, Jooan, Jaejun, Sunghyuk, Hyunyeop, Taehoon, and Jiseong.

Previously, KorUS Entertainment and KYOO LIVE Entertainment announced a video call event for TAN. TAN is no longer under contract with Think Entertainment, so fans are not sure if the group will continue as TAN. Jooan and Taehoon are soon enlisting, and Jaejun has been debating whether he will remain an idol. Since fans know this might be their last chance to see TAN ever, it sold-out quickly.

Unfortunately, the event did not go as planned. K-Pop fan Jessica Pacheco (@iamjeynoelle1228 on TikTok) chronicled the experience.

100+ fans waited in line for hours before finally discovering what was wrong. After the fans were informed of the event changes, the host of the call and Korean fans argued. Some fans paid $500 USD for a three-minute video call but were then told they would only get 10 seconds. So, naturally, fans were upset.

Jessica explained everything in a follow-up video. There were multiple packages, ranging from $100-$500 USD. Some were just a 1:1 video call with a signed photocard and a 7:1 video call with multiple signed photocards, albums, etc. They even added more packages, as they had previously sold out. There was still no schedule released the day before the event. The day of, the email was sent, giving information. Although the event was scheduled to start shortly after 8 PM, time kept passing… Eventually, fans were informed they were having technical difficulties. The event had never begun. So, the new start time became 11:30 PM, but they said that the 3-minute fan calls would have to be cut to just 10 seconds due to the delayed start. The host claimed there would be a partial refund, a free album, and photocards to make up for it when all fans really wanted was time with TAN in case this was their final event.

Jessica’s second video garnered over 70K views, as K-Pop fans were horrified by the event. Knowing fans spent so much, many said they would call their bank to refute the charge if this happened to them.

Many also wished it could have been rescheduled, but that was not a possibility based on TAN’s circumstances. Based on fans’ comments, the whole issue to begin with was that it was technically an unapproved event, as Think Entertainment did not sign off on said package offers.
