From Hrithik Roshan, and Salman Khan to Shah Rukh Khan, most of the superstars, who now charge a whopping amount, once received their first salary in the hundreds. Another such actor, who once got Rs 500 as first salary, is now one of the highest-paid stars in India.
The actor we are talking about has given no flops in 9 years and consecutive blockbusters. He is now gearing up for his last film, after which he is going to quit films to serve the people as a politician. He is none other than Thalapathy Vijay.
Thalapathy Vijay started his career in films as a child actor in the 80s. His first film was the 1984 release Vetri, directed by his father. In an interview in 2017, Chandrasekhar revealed that the 10-year-old Vijay was paid Rs 500 for his performance in the film by actor-producer PS Veerappa. Vijay went on to appear as a child actor in various films through the 80s before transitioning to lead roles as an adult in 1992 with Naalaiya Theerpu.
In the 90s, Vijay starred in several commercially successful films like Nerrukku Ner, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Ninaithen Vandhai, Priyamudan and Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Love Today, and more, however, it was only in 2000s that he attained stardom with the movie Ghilli. This was followed by a series of some other commercially successful films Pokkiri, Kaavalan, and Nanban. Well, his successful run at the box office didn’t stop here. The actor went on to give major blockbusters like Theri, Bairavaa, Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil, Master, Beast, Varisu, and Leo, and in the last 9 years, he hasn’t had any flops.
The actor is now one of the highest-paid in India and reportedly charged a whopping sum of Rs 200 crore for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo. This means he has surpassed the Rs 100-150 crore fee charged by the likes of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar. However, if the reports are to be believed, the actor has now charged Rs 250 crore for his upcoming movie G.O.A.T- The Greatest of All Time.
The actor lives a luxurious life and according to a report in Times of India, he has a staggering net worth of Rs 600 crore. The actor lives in a sea-facing bungalow in Chennai which is worth Rs 80 crore and several other properties in Tamil Nadu. These include houses in Tiruvallur, Thiruporur, Thirumazhisai, and Vandalur, collectively worth around Rs 50-60 crores.
Meanwhile, Vijay will be seen in a double role in his upcoming movie G.O.A.T- The Greatest Of All Time. The film also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Ajmal Ameer, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren and Yugendran. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 5 and will mark Vijay’s last film.
