Amitabh Bachchan had to apologise to Prabhas fans with folded hands for this unusual reason
As Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD gears up for release in theatres this week, the promotions are in full flow. Earlier this week, the film’s stars and producers got together to chat about its making and more in Mumbai. The interaction, which took place on the sidelines of the launch of the film’s release trailer, was shared online by the makers on Sunday. Titled Kalki Chronicles, the video features the principal cast – Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone – in conversation with the two producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt.
In one part of the video, Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the dystopian sci-fi, revealed how he reacted when Nag Ashwin approached him for the role. “When Nagi (Nag Ashwin) came to talk to me about this, he just brought a visual (concept) of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who is shoving off THE Prabhas,” the actor said.
The veteran actor then turned to the actor and while referring to his fight scenes with Prabhas, addressed the star’s fans. “All the fans of Prabhas, please excuse me. Haath jod kar maafi maang rahe hain (I am apologising with folded hands). Don’t massacre me after you see what I do,” he added tongue-in-cheek. A flustered Prabhas could just manage to say, “They are all your fans sir,” even as all the other panellists had a good laugh.
Kalki 2898 AD is a dystopian sci-fi film inspired by Indian mythology. Director Nag Ashwin says he envisioned it as a sort of sequel to the epic Mahabharat. Intended to be the first part of a two-film story, the film stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. Kalki 2898 AD releases in theatres on June 27.
