Mainz’s Brajan Gruda attracting interest from a host of Bundesliga clubs

Sport Bild reports that Mainz winger Brajan Gruda is attracting interest from a variety of different clubs from the Bundesliga and abroad.

Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig from Germany and Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have shown interest in the 19-year-old. It is said that a transfer for Gruda would cost around €20m. With his current development, it would make the most sense for Gruda to stay in the Bundesliga instead of immediately making the jump to the Premier League.

The plan at Leverkusen would be for Gruda to partner with compatriot Florian Wirtz behind the striker in Leverkusen’s 3-4-2-1 formation. This is a role that Gruda already plays at Mainz so from that perspective, integration would not be as difficult.

This season has been Gruda’s break-out season but he took his performances up a notch with the arrival of Bo Henriksen as manager. In his first season, Gruda has four goals and three assists in 28 games and helped Mainz survive in the Bundesliga on the final day.
