TvN‘s hit K-Drama Lovely Runner (also known as Run Away With Sun-Jae On Piggyback) concluded with its finale last week. This romantic-comedy time-slip show is by True Beauty screenwriter Lee Si Eun. Actors Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon star as Ryu Sun Jae (also romanized as Ryu Seon Jae) and Im Sol, respectively.
Ryu Seon-Jae (Byeon Woo-Seok) is a top star who has been in the spotlight since his debut. His life seems perfect, but being in the entertainment industry has completely worn him out. Meanwhile, Lim Sol (Kim Hye-Yoon) loves Ryu Seon-Jae as an adoring fan. When she was little, she had an accident. Due to that, she gave up on her dream, but listening to Ryu Seon-Jae’s song on the radio gave her comfort and she became his fan since then. One day, Lim Sol hears breaking news that Ryu Seon-Jae has ended his own life. She feels deep sadness over the tragic news. Miraculously, Lim Sol somehow travels back in time to 15 years in the past. There, she faces Ryu Seon-Jae, who is a 19 year old high school student. She struggles to prevent his tragic future.

The K-Drama received so much success and love that physical versions of their OST albums have now been released. There are even two special versions, much like K-Pop albums. The first is traditional, focusing on the leads, Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae, on the cover. The second is actually an album for ECLIPSE, the fictional band featured in the drama.
Recently, pre-orders were held for the OST album. Fans anticipated its release, and naturally, it recorded the highest number of pre-orders among all K-Drama OSTs. Lovely Runner successfully broke the record for the highest pre-ordered Korean OST album in history, although the exact number of sales has yet to be revealed. In 2022, Our Beloved Summer OST album sold out in pre-order.
Pre-orders for the Lovely Runner OST album were held on major music sites, and the initial quantity expected was quickly exceeded. The number of pre-orders has far exceeded the production quantity. CJ ENM is doing its best to ensure that the Lovely Runner OST album will be delivered to fans promptly.
The Lovely Runner OST album is released with a total of 54 songs, including six songs by ECLIPSE, 38 instrumental tracks, and ten OSTs by artists, such as N.Flying, (G)I-DLE‘s Minnie, ATEEZ‘s Jongho, etc. Yet, Lovely Runner fans are saying the K-Drama’s best song is not even included in the album.
The song in question is Im Sol’s birthday gift to her original crush/boyfriend, Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon Hee). In the K-Drama, she recorded an “embarrassing” music video of herself singing about her love for Tae Sung.
The song is actually a cover of the Korean children’s “Milk Song.” You might recall TXT singing it when they visited the amusement park and BTS singing it on the 930th episode of SBS Inkigayo to promote adolescents to drink milk.

Lovely Runner fans joked that the Im Sol version of the song should have been included in the OST album, as it was so iconic and catchy that many of us still sing it to this day.
