Kamille takes ownership of her talent on life-affirming new single, ‘Headline’


Fresh from making waves following the release of her self-produced debut album ‘K1’ –  a cutting-edge, musical opus that saw her command attention, and firmly stake her claim as a formidable recording artist in her own right – British pop powerhouse Kamille returns to remind the world of her worth today (May 22nd) with the unveiling of her brand new single ‘Headlines’.

Arriving as the first cut to be lifted from the multi-GRAMMY winners second studio album ‘K2’, the gutsy track serves as something of a playful homage to Kamille’s already stellar pop career, as she unapologetically makes moves to reclaim both her narrative, and confidence as a performer.

Filled with a plethora of hypnotic, off-kilter beats, killer hooks and sassy, life-affirming lyrics, the dance inducing anthem explores themes of alienation, and self-reflection, as well as the London natives undeniable credentials, by alluding to the fact that as a songwriter many people will know her songs word-for-word but most likely won’t know who the hitmaker is behind the song.

Explaining the message, and intention behind the electrifying track, the ‘Options’ singer says: “I hope this song helps you feel amazing about yourself, because it’s time for you to be the headline… flex a little … feel good about being YOU! This is our moment to finally be SEEN. It’s about unapologetic confidence. A reminder that you are untouchable.”

Set to drop later in the year, ‘K2’ is said to be a record inspired by futurism and Y2K, but presented with a modern day twist.

Pulling from the depths of her soul, and making a conscious effort to take relatable elements from her varied life experiences, whether it be overcoming confidence issues to embracing motherhood for the first time, the pop-infused record promises to further foster the BRIT Award winners one-of-a-kind relationship with her every growing army of loyal fans and followers.

In addition to ushering in the ‘K2’ era with the release of ‘Headline’, Kamille has also partnered with Black Lives In Music as an ambassador for their “YourSafetyYourSay survey on Bullying and Harassment in the music industry” campaign which aims to tackle “bullying and harassment online” and other sectors of the music industry. 

When asked about her advocacy for the campaign, the singer-songwriter stated: “From the beginning of my journey in the music industry, I’ve faced so many barriers… I realised very early on that we (black women in music) are labelled negatively when we defend ourselves against bullying.” 

“We’re often judged beyond our talents, and even sometimes exploited in ways that can gaslight us into accepting harassment online via social media, in the form constructive criticism. But it’s not ok, and I think it’s important to speak up against bullying in any form.” 

“I really want to use my platform to promote a safe supportive space for all types of black artists.”
