IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals name replacement for injured Lungi Ngidi



Just days before the highly anticipated 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) commences, Delhi Capitals (DC) have made a significant alteration to their squad due to an unfortunate injury.

Lungi Ngidi ruled out

Delhi Capitals received a major setback as their talented pacer, Lungi Ngidi, has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2024 season due to injury. Known for his pace and experience in the league, Ngidi’s absence leaves a void in the Capitals’ bowling lineup.

Replacement announced

In response to Ngidi’s absence, Delhi Capitals swiftly announced the replacement, opting for the explosive batting prowess of Jake Fraser-McGurk. The Australian talent, who has showcased his skills in the international arena, will join the Capitals’ camp for his reserve price of INR 50 lakh.

“Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” an IPL media advisory read.

DC’s campaign and season opener

Not so long ago, Delhi Capitals received a significant boost with the return of their regular captain, Rishabh Pant, who was given the green flag by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to join the upcoming season of the lucrative league. Under Pant’s leadership, the Capitals aim to make a mark in the IPL 2024 season.

They are set to kickstart their journey against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 23 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
