Recently, media outlets revealed that MBC’s Idol Star Athletic Championships will reportedly return for Chuseok 2024.
The show, which has not been held since 2022, is reportedly scheduled to record the show in August, including futsal, golf, and relay races.
However, fans were not happy about one category, golf. An online community post garnered much attention for the many reasons why fans did not want their idols to be involved in golf.
- Faces get tanned/burnt
- Golf has the image of environmental destruction
- Nervous about strange friendships being made. People in business and attention-seeking acquaintances are scarier than women. Scared that idols will want to start businesses.
- Not ideal for exercise
- Once you start, it takes up more than half a day to play. (Rookie idols won’t have much time to practice)
- Possibility of going to an entertainment establishment.
- There is a possibility that the caddies will spread strange rumors about the idols.
Fans felt that having idols interact with businessmen and club CEOs would taint the group’s image.
- “Some strange gangster posted a picture with my idol while playing golf and tagged them in the photo. I checked out the person’s feed and was anxious seeing that he had posted about a coin asset business card. Thankfully, no other photos were posted, but I was so appalled.”
- “Gangsters and scammers who do coin or are in the club business are attention-seekers. If they go out to the field with idols, they tag the idols and group on the feed, and I hate it. If they are going to play gold, they need someone to restrict them from posting it. It ruins the images.”
Netizens agreed that although it was the idol’s choice, it would do them more harm than good.
