Here’s what went down behind the scenes.
Thor actor Chris Hemsworth recently sat down for an interview with Buzzfeed UK.
At one point, he talked about JYP Entertainment boy group Stray Kids and their first meeting at the 2024 MET Gala.
He gushed over them and shared more details about the time he lifted the members off their feet.
I just picked them up and gave them cuddles! Yeah, I love them. They’re really like a bundle of energy and joy. I was like, ‘I love you guys.’ I picked them up and had a little wrestle with them.

Stray Kids previously talked about their side of the meeting in an interview with Billboard, saying that they were happy to be picked up by the Australian actor
So we said ‘Hi,’ and then Chris was like, ‘Oh, I know you guys! You guys are two Australians—aww, come here, boys!’

Chris Hemsworth further confirmed that he knew of the boys since before the MET Gala. Referencing their song “Back Door,” he joked that he was just a fan who was excited to meet his favorites. It is also in his personality to be the social butterfly in every room, and it was natural for him to extend this friendly nature to Stray Kids.
I get so excited at those events. I turn into a fan. It feels like I snuck in the back door, and I’m not supposed to be there. I think also living in Australia I’m so kinda removed from it so when I go to those events and everything’s quite serious [I go] ‘Woohoo, I love you, I love your music, I love your TV show, I love your film. Come here!’

When the interviewer brought up how happy member Changbin was to meet him given that he’s “a huge Marvel fan,” Chris replied that the honor was all his.

Fans unsurprisingly loved this response from the Thor actor. They were ecstatic that he loved their biases as much as they did.

The 2024 MET Gala was held on May 6 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The event celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
Stray Kids attended the event on behalf of Tommy Hilfiger.
