Chelsea show interest in Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano

As reported via Bild, Chelsea are one of many clubs looking to sign Bayern Munich centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

As previously reported, Der Rekordmeister are closing in on a move for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah. However, in order for Bayern to sign the 28-year-old, the record champions would have to sell one of their key defenders.

It is understood that out of Kim Min-Jae, Matthijs de Ligt, and Upamecano, it is the Frenchman who Bayern would be looking to move on. Due to a number of high-profile mistakes last season and insufficient performances, as stated in the report, those in charge at the club believe the 25-year-old is now surplus to requirements.

Therefore, it is expected that Upamecano will depart Bavaria this summer, with a move to England becoming a likely destination.

Thus far, Chelsea have made their interest in Upamecano clear, but they will have to contend with other Premier League clubs who are also vying for his signature.
