Bayern Munich’s newly appointed Director of Sport, Max Eberl, has issued a clear ultimatum to Alphonso Davies concerning his contract negotiations with the club. Eberl disclosed exclusively to Sport Bild that negotiations have been ongoing for a significant duration but hit an impasse last summer, compelling the club to address the situation promptly.

“We’re dealing with the issue”, Eberl stated, highlighting the urgency surrounding the matter.

Bayern’s firm offer and Davies’ decision dilemma

Reports from Florian Plettenberg reveal that Bayern Munich has presented Davies with a contract extension until 2029, accompanied by an annual salary ranging between €11 million and €13 million gross, supplemented with additional incentives. Despite the substantial offer, Bayern officials have reiterated their unwillingness to enhance the proposal any further. Should Davies decline to sign a new contract, it appears increasingly probable that he will depart the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“We have made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer”, Eberl affirmed. “At some point in your life, you have to say yes or no.”

Real Madrid’s interest and potential replacements

While rumors swirl regarding heightened interest from Real Madrid in acquiring Davies, Eberl clarified that Bayern Munich has yet to receive any direct contact from the Spanish giants regarding a potential transfer. Nevertheless, in the event of Davies’ departure from the Allianz Arena, reports suggest that Bayern has identified Milan’s Theo Hernandez as a prospective replacement.

With Davies‘ current contract set to expire in 2025, Bayern Munich seeks clarity on the Canadian’s future, ideally resolving the situation before the commencement of the summer transfer window. However, amidst the ongoing pursuit of a new head coach, the upcoming months promise to be a busy period for the Rekordmeister as they navigate crucial decisions regarding their squad composition.
