Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is expanding its collaboration with Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google Cloud to help developers worldwide create 5G applications faster with telecommunication application programming interface, or APIs.
Nokia said its Network as Code platform will now run on Google Cloud, and will use Google’s Vertex AI and AI model Gemini 1.5 Pro to enhance developer experience with generative AI capabilities.
The Finland-based company added that this will help developers use AI in their applications and improve productivity with coding assistance agents.
The companies will target industry use cases to promote with the Google Cloud developer community, starting with the healthcare industry to help telehealth firms provide better customer experiences.
“Through this important collaboration with Nokia, we are enabling our global developer community to tap into the greenfield opportunity that 5G networks provide,” said Ankur Jain, vice president, Google Distributed Cloud and Global Telco Industry at Google Cloud.
Nokia’s Network as Code platform — which is based on a revenue share model between developers, operators, and Nokia — provides developers with software development kits, network API documentation, and code ‘snippets’ which can be included in building new applications, according to the Finnish company.
