Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) macOS Sequoia appears to tighten continuity and connectivity across various Apple devices, when it was revealed today at the WWDC 2024 event.
One of the new abilities is iPhone mirroring. It allows users to connect with their iPhone from their Mac. It pulls the iPhone homepage directly onto the Mac screen, allowing users to access and open apps remotely.
“Any iPhone app can be opened from the Mac,” said Craig Federighi, Apple senior vice president of software engineering. “You can use Mac trackpad and keyboard to interact with any app.”
“To make this more magical, we are bringing iPhone notifications to Mac, so you can interact with the phone from the Mac seamlessly,” he added.
The iPhone remains locked whenever it is being mirrored this way.
Other updates include improved organization of windows and tiles, enhanced videoconferencing abilities and a new Passwords app.
“The Passwords app makes it easy to keep credentials securely situated in one place,” Federighi said. “It can be synced across all your Apple devices.”
Safari has been equipped with new privacy and search capabilities as well.
Apple is also bringing more gaming to its macOS, including the new Baldur’s Gate and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
