Throwback: When Arjun Kapoor defended his relationship with Malaika Arora against trolls | Hindi Movie News

Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor‘s relationship has been a topic of public scrutiny since they made it official in 2019. The couple have faced constant questions and criticism about the 12-year age gap between them.
In a past interview with Masala.com, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor had strongly defended his relationship with Malaika Arora against the constant scrutiny and trolling they faced over their age gap.Kapoor, who was 36 at the time, found it “silly” to judge their relationship based on the 12-year age difference between them and Malaika, who was 48. “Firstly, I think that the media is the one who goes through the comments from people. We don’t even look at 90% of it so the trolling cannot be given so much importance, because it’s all fake. Those same people will be dying to take a selfie with me when they meet me, so you cannot believe that narrative,” Kapoor had stated.

The actor emphasized that his personal life was his “prerogative” and that as long as his professional work was being recognized, the rest was just “a lot of noise.” He dismissed the notion of being “bothered about whose age is what” and urged people to “just live, let live and move on.” Kapoor also addressed the societal prejudices towards age-gap relationships, particularly when the woman is older. He noted that an older man dating a younger woman is often celebrated, but when the roles are reversed, the woman is labeled “desperate” and a “buddhi.”
Despite the constant criticism and trolling, Kapoor and Arora’s relationship remained strong for several years. However, recent reports suggest that the couple has now parted ways amicably. Neither Kapoor nor Arora have officially confirmed the breakup, and they have chosen to keep their personal lives private. Arjun Kapoor is currently focused on his upcoming projects, including the antagonist role in Singham Again and a romantic comedy with Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar.
