Kajol reminisces about her childhood, blissfully unaware of the hardships her mother faced.
“Never did I think about what it cost my mother to give me that childhood,” she reflects. Tanuja, with tireless determination, shielded Kajol from life’s challenges, making everything appear effortless.
As a parent herself, Kajol now sees her mother’s actions in a new light. “The things she did with me as a parent were outstandingly brave, cool, and forward-thinking,” Kajol acknowledges. Tanuja’s parenting choices defied societal norms and time constraints, leaving an indelible mark on Kajol.
Kajol hopes to be “half as brave” as her mother. She aspires to pass on the same courage to her daughter, Nysa. “I commend her,” Kajol says, referring to Tanuja. “Maybe not as brave,” she adds, recognizing the unique roadblocks of each generation.
When asked if she ever anticipated the realities of motherhood, Kajol shared an amusing anecdote about her interactions with Nysa. When Tanuja once told Kajol that she hoped she would have a daughter like herself, Kajol passed on the same sentiment to Nysa. However, Nysa’s response was unexpected: “No, I am having sons because I don’t think I can handle a daughter like me.”
Apart from family matters, Kajol is currently starring in “The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha,” the Indian adaptation of the popular series “The Good Wife.” The show, available on Disney Plus Hotstar, marks Kajol’s digital debut, showcasing her versatility as an actor.
