Kamal Haasan recalls how he had ‘almost in tears in his eyes’ when he saw Dilip Kumar for the FIRST time | Hindi Movie News

Veteran star Kamal Haasan who has created a niche in the Indian film industry with his stellar performances recalls how he almost had tears in his eyes when he saw Dilip Kumar for the first time.
During his conversation with Pinkvilla, Kamal Hassan was asked about whom he sees or has seen as an inspiration in his life. In response, he stated that the truest statement a Tamilian can make is that his horizon started with Mr.Sivaji Ganesan.
Kamal Haasan, who once believed that the world had only one sun in Mr. Sivaji, acknowledged that it was due to him that he realized there was an entire galaxy out there. He mentioned that he discovered another bright sun in Dilip Kumar. He noted that this order of discovery was because he was born on the southern tip of the country, and otherwise, he might have found Dilip Kumar first.
Talking about legendary Dilip Kumar and explaining why he caught up on his films much later in life, Kamal Haasan mentioned that Dilip Kumar is one of the greatest actors India has ever produced and was far more advanced than most actors of his time. He described him as very international, which took some time for him to understand. He also noted that due to various political reasons, Hindi films were scarce, so he caught up with Dilip Kumar’s films much later.
Recalling his conversation with Dilip Kumar, the ‘Vikram‘ actor shared that he told him he had seen one of his films. Dilip Kumar, noticing his emotional state, asked which film it was. When Kamal Haasan mentioned it was “Ganga Jumna,” Dilip Kumar frowned, seemingly puzzled and wondering if it was a clever remark about his acting.
Kamal Haasan quickly explained that he was catching up on Dilip Kumar’s work, and what the legendary actor had done 20 years ago struck him like a thunderbolt.
Hassan also revealed that he would visit Dilip Kumar’s house almost every December, kneel before him, and kiss his hand. This, he explained, demonstrated that he was a film fan even before he became a film actor.
Meanwhile, Hassan is gearing up for the release of ‘Indian 2‘, titled ‘Hindustani 2’ in Hindi, releasing worldwide on the 12th of July, 2024.
