Now, the actress’ powerful portrayal in the sci-fi epic has reignited interest in her long-awaited project, ‘Draupadi’.Taking to their handles, fans called for the revival of the mythological drama that was set to feature DP in the lead.
Back in 2019, the actress announced her plans to star in and produce a film centred around the legendary figure of Draupadi from the Mahabharata. However, since the announcement, there have been no updates on the project’s progress. Fans took to social media to express their admiration and hope for the “Draupadi” project to be revived. One fan commented, “So happy to read the reviews for DP. I am so proud. People specially talking about her eyes n walk. That’s why I wish either Rajamouli, Nag Ashwin or Maniratnam make Draupadi with Deepika.” Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying, “Deepika is getting such rave reviews. I hope this urges her to bring back that Draupadi project again.”

‘Draupadi’ is envisioned as a retelling of the Mahabharata from Draupadi’s perspective, a project that Deepika described as a “role of a lifetime.” She has previously expressed her excitement about the film, emphasizing the importance of presenting the story from a fresh and new perspective. Co-produced with Madhu Mantena, the film aims to offer a significant and interesting take on the epic tale.

The intensity and emotion of Deepika’s performance have left a lasting impact, with some fans comparing it to her previous period films. The star’s visually stunning and emotionally charged walk through fire scene, also had fans drawing parallels to her memorable jauhar scene in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s ‘Padmaavat’.

One fan remarked, “It’s INTERVAL time and I am just AWE-INSPIRED by Deepika’s performance. That FIRE SCENE gave the same chills as the jauhar scene. SHE IS INDIAN CINEMA.”
