Shweta Tripathi, known for her roles in ‘Mirzapur‘ and ‘Masaan,’ shared a deep-seated affinity for Varanasi at TOI Dialogues. It is a city she first visited a decade ago for the filming of ‘Masaan.’ Despite hailing from Delhi, she fondly refers to herself as a daughter of Uttar Pradesh, drawn back to Varanasi year after year for its profound cultural richness.
“Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world,” Shweta reflected, marveling at its enduring heritage and the warmth of its people.”Every visit leaves me feeling blessed,” she added, highlighting the city’s exquisite Benarasi sarees, delectable cuisine, and the intellectual haven of Benaras University.

Recently, while promoting Mirzapur, Shweta visited a local temple where she was warmly greeted by locals eager for the next season of the show. She noted the city’s evolving infrastructure and growing emphasis on promoting local culture, seeing it as a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s role in shaping modern India.
