Sonali is glad that she is getting character-driven scripts now. “Acting is something that I enjoy and there is so much happening in our industry now. I am getting to explore possibilities that weren’t there earlier. Getting into movies was accidental for me. I started quite young and then took a long break. So, it feels amazing to be working again and experiencing how the industry has changed. Scripts are more character-driven now, and everything is much more collaborative. It works well for me because it takes me beyond just glam characters. I want to explore more character-driven scripts now,” she says.

On the personal front, her son Ranveer has moved abroad for studies, and Sonali is enjoying her me time now. She says, “My son is kind of all grown up, and I gave it my all while parenting. But I don’t want to be that mother who’s going to hold on. I want my son to be able to fly and don’t want to be holding on to him, which I see a lot of parents do. I think good parenting is when you prepare your child to be independent. I tell my son that it’s time for him to be independent and instead of feeling a vacuum as he is not around, it is better that I get busy.”
