Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most celebrated actors in the Bollywood industry, and he has also gained popularity in the South Indian film industry with his exceptional talent. An actor with significant experience in the industry over the past two decades, he recently opened up about the love and acceptance he has received from audiences and fans without facing any religious discrimination.
In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Nawazuddin revealed that he has no interest in politics and cricket. However, the actor added that he was happy to play political characters in films, citing his role as Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray in the 2019 film ‘Thackeray’. When asked if the Muslim community’s reception of the movie included backlash after its release, Nawazuddin stated that there were some negative reactions, but not many took it to an extreme level. Addressing the theories about religious discrimination in Bollywood, Siddiqui quickly responded, “That’s not even a question (Sawaal hi paeda nahi hota).”

He further added that society should learn from Bollywood. When asked about differing opinions from some veteran actors based on their community, Nawazuddin clarified that, professionally, even Anupam Kher has great respect for Naseeruddin Shah.
Nawazuddin reacted to a question about whether he has faced any discrimination for being a Muslim or experienced communal politics in Bollywood. Siddiqui emphasized, “Mujhe to itna pyaar milta hai yaar,” revealing that he has never experienced such immense love from anywhere else. He further clarified that he has traveled to the interiors of the country and doubts the negative portrayals often shown in the news, believing that the people of India are beautiful and innocent.
On the work front, Nawazuddin is currently awaiting the release of ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’ on June 28 on OTT.
