Deepika Padukone didn’t invite Amitabh Bachchan to the ‘Piku’ success bash: It was a major technical error

As ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘ nears its release, fans are eagerly anticipating the on-screen reunion of Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone after their successful collaboration in ‘Piku‘. The Shoojit Sircar-directed film, released in 2015, was a critical and commercial hit. However, an unfortunate incident occurred when Deepika Padukone forgot to invite Amitabh Bachchan to the success bash she hosted for the film.
The celebration was attended by several big names, including Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt.Amitabh Bachchan’s absence was noticeable and initially speculated to be due to illness. It was later revealed that was not invited to the event.
Deepika Padukone said, as quoted by Deccan Chronicle, “It was a major technical error on my part and by the time it came to my notice it was too late and I’ll never forgive myself for it.”
“I am so embarrassed that I have not even had the courage to call him after that. I did eventually text him a couple of days ago but I have still not had the courage to pick up the phone and even explain myself to him. But I will. It was a major technical thing,” Deepika further added.
During the promotion of ‘Wazir’, when asked about the incident, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Jo beet gayi so baat gayi. There are too many things that happen. You can’t keep mulling over what’s already happened.”
A few years ago, it was reported that Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan would reunite for the Hindi remake of the Anne Hathaway starrer ‘The Intern’. Although there have been no updates on that project, fans are eagerly anticipating their on-screen reunion in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the trailer for Kalki 2898 AD was released earlier this month, revealing a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The film features an impressive cast, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.
Amitabh Bachchan will portray the role of Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s film. During the pre-release event, Big B shared his reaction upon being offered the role of Ashwatthama. “When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for the long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’”
“To see something like this which is absolutely outrageous, some of the visuals that you have seen are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project which is so futuristic and possible… and during the making of the film you realise that no matter what he thought of he actually brought all the material, all the effects, every kind of vision that he had to the screen and that’s been really amazing. For me to be just a part of it, has been an experience I’ll never forget,” Big B added.
