Dalip Tahil portrayed Aamir Khan’s father in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in his early 30s: ‘Many actors didn’t take the role’ | Hindi Movie News

In 1988, the musical love drama ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ cast actor Dalip Tahil as superstar Aamir Khan‘s father. Tahil has said that at the time of signing the film, he was in his early 30s. Dalip claimed that Aamir and he are barely ten years apart in age.
In the most recent Cyrus Says episode, when Dalip was asked if he was concerned while portraying the character of Aamir’s father, he responded that while there wasn’t much of an age difference between them, it was something that discouraged other actors from accepting the role.
The actor shared, “It was my first father role, and the film was a game changer for me. I am ten years older than Aamir. In fact, that was the reason why quite a few actors didn’t take the role as they didn’t want to do a father role. That’s what Nasir Hussain sir (producer) had told me. I was in my early 30s at the time and didn’t think about it twice, the role was fantastic and so I did it.”
When asked if he was concerned that he would be stereotyped as an on-screen father after the movie, Dalip responded that it wasn’t the case at the time, but he later sensed the widespread typecast that was coming into play.
He further added, “There was no question of fearing typecast because it was my first time. After that I got a lot of father roles and then I was worried about being typecast, because that is a problem with all actors. If something succeeds, everyone wants you to play the same thing all over again. But fortunately for me I managed to do other stuff.”
Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla made their big-screen debuts with the rom-com film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. The movie established Aamir and Juhi’s career and was a huge hit.
On the work front, Dalip Tahil will be next seen in the third season of ‘The Family Man’, which is helmed by Raj and DK and stars Manoj Bajpayee.
