BTS Jin’s fans attempted unconsented kisses during ‘Free Hug’ event; Police initiate investigation | K-pop Movie News

Police have launched an internal investigation following reports of alleged sexual harassment directed at BTS member Jin during a recent ‘free hug’ event held as part of the group’s 11th anniversary celebrations. The incident, which occurred last Thursday, saw fans attempting to kiss Jin instead of adhering to the agreed-upon gesture of a hug, sparking outcry and prompting an official response from authorities.
The Songpa Police Station initiated the investigation after receiving a formal complaint, as detailed in an online post by the complainant who disclosed being the source of the report. According to the post, the complainant received confirmation from Songpa police that an investigation had begun regarding the alleged sexual harassment in a public setting.
Disturbing accounts emerged from the event, including one fan’s blog post where they described, “My lips touched against his neck. His skin was so soft”. Images circulated online depicted fans making unwelcome advances towards Jin, contrasting sharply with the intended spirit of the event meant to celebrate BTS Festa 2024.
The controversy surrounding the event has not only centered on allegations of sexual misconduct but also highlighted concerns over event management, with reports of fans suffering from heatstroke and exhaustion amidst chaotic conditions.
