Swara Bhasker: Netizens school Swara Bhasker for slamming vegetarianism on Bakri Eid |

Swara Bhasker has been in news lately for her comment on vegetarians. A user on X (formerly Twitter) had dropped a picture of her food and said, “I’m proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free from tears, cruelty and guilt.” The actress re-shared this and slammed vegetarians. She wrote, “Honestly… I don’t understand this smug self righteousness of vegetarians.Your entire diet is made up of denying the calf its mother’s milk.. forcibly impregnating cows then separating them from their babies & stealing their milk. You eat root vegetables? That kills the whole plant! Please relax with the virtue signaling just because it’s Bakr Eid ! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”

However, the actress gets brutally trolled now for her comment. Here’s how the internet has reacted to her comment on vegetarianism. A user wrote, “She didn’t tag you or anyone else. Are you writing this because you think you’re guilty?”

Another user who is a non vegetarian, responded to Swara and said, “As a nonveg eating person let me teach you some biology as you seem to not understand simple science: – Calf is NEVER denied mothers milk. If it were, the calves would die & never become adult cows who milk – Artificial insemination is scientifically proven to have genetic improvement, selective breeding & disease control – Yes uprooting a plant kills it but plants do NOT have pain receptors, nerves or nervous system so they DO NOT feel the pain like animals and humans, Thats why you do not see plants moving or shaking or crying or bleeding when we cut them. – Please understand basic science then try to act smart – Even I eat nonveg but I acknowledge its cruel and we bear the sin of ‘Pashu Hatya’ when we indulge in such diets.”

A user schooled her, “Root vegetable is taken after it’s end of their life, learn about root vegetable farming and then compare with the goats.”

Someone wrote, “Saying meat-eating is the same as “killing plants” is like saying cannibalism is the same as eating a chicken. There is a spectrum. Mammals are high on the spectrum of feeling pain and emotions and are closer to humans.”

A person told her, “In the image, it is tofu, not paneer. Tofu is derived from soy and is made by curdling fresh soy milk. don’t know why you are triggered 💀.” Many users also told her to ‘get well soon,’ with this logic.

However, one or two users also supported Swara’s views. A person said, “Agree. Cruelty to animals is involved even in a vegetarian diet. Even plants have life. So it boils down to individual choice. There is no moral or ethical issue involved here. Let’s not judge others. Let’s live at peace with ourselves for the choices we make.”
