Kalki 2898 AD global BO: Prabhas starrer has sold over 5000 tickets for its opening day in Australia collecting more than Rs 80 lakh

Nag Ashwin’s futuristic mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD is all set for global domination. The film has already opened to huge numbers in the North American circuit where it has crossed the US $ 1.5 million mark for its premiere shows. And now, news is coming in that the film has already picked up heat in Australia, which is usually not considered to be a very big market for Indian films.
As per Track BO, the Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer has sold more than 5000 tickets in the island country for its day 1. The total sale of the film stands at A$ 150 199 ( Rs 83 lakh) with the film still 9 days away from the release. The film is being released in 4 languages in Australia, with maximum tickets being sold for Telugu version ( 4779 ) followed by Hindi version ( 216).
In terms of format, 2D format sold more than 3300 tickets with IMAX version being second with over 1000 tickets. Advance booking for the film is currently open in just 53 locations, and as the release date comes closer, the number is likely to go up, making it one of the widest releases for a South Indian film.
Nag Ashwin talking about the film at IIT Bombay said , “ In India, we do not have a lot of sci-fi films. We have done a few time travel films. This one is different because it’s in a whole separate world on its own. Also, in the international sense, it is new because we have not seen India in a future setting or dystopian setting. So now we don’t have to look at London and New York being born, now we can see our cities also.”
