Sunny Deol to resume shooting for the Hindi remake of ‘Joseph’ titled ‘Soorya’ before kicking off the ‘Border 2’ schedule | Hindi Movie News



Actor Sunny Deol, who recently announced the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’, is set to return to the big screen with the crime drama ‘Soorya’, which he started working on in 2022.
For those unaware, Directed by M. Padmakumar, Soorya is an official adaptation of the acclaimed 2018 Malayalam film ‘Joseph‘. Reportedly, in the remake, Deol stars as a retired cop who is pulled back into the investigative world to solve a murder case, eventually uncovering a sinister organ-harvesting racket.
As per the report by Mid-Day, production for the shoot of ‘Soorya’ began in Jaipur in 2022, but due to scheduling conflicts and Sunny Deol’s commitments to other projects, the film’s completion was delayed.
The report added that Deol plans to finish shooting for this Kamal Mukut’s production by November 2024. This timeline aligns with Deol’s current engagements, as he is currently wrapping up another project, Lahore 1947.
Recently, Sunny Deol took to his Instagram account to share the announcement video for Border 2, calling it ‘India’s biggest war film.’
The announcement video was shared on his Instagram account, featuring Sunny Deol’s voiceover in the background: “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, Hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai. 27 years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfill that promise and to salute the soil of India, he is returning.”
Meanwhile, after the wrap-up of ‘Soorya’, Sunny Deol will shift his focus to ‘Border 2’, which is scheduled for Republic Day 2026 release on January 23.
