Swara Bhasker slams netizen’s ‘proud to be a vegetarian’ post; calls out ‘smug self-righteousness’ |

Swara Bhasker has reacted strongly to a food blogger’s post on vegetarian food. The user on X shared a picture of a fried rice and paneer dish and penned, “I’m proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free from tears, cruelty and guilt.”
Reacting to it, Swara called out ‘smug self righteousness’ and cited an example of diet with milk. She wrote, “Honestly… I don’t understand this smug self righteousness of vegetarians.Your entire diet is made up of denying the calf its mother’s milk.. forcibly impregnating cows then separating them from their babies & stealing their milk. You eat root vegetables? That kills the whole plant!” The actress further slammed the timing of the post and wrote, “Please relax with the virtue signalling just because it’s Bakr Eid !”
Last year, Swara celebrated her first Eid with husband Fahad. Sharing the photos from their celebration, Swara had penned, “Pehli Eid (First Eid) #NewBeginnings #EidMubarak2023 @FahadZirarAhmad.” This year, she celebrated the occasion with her toddler, Raabiyaa.
Swara Bhasker and politician Fahad Ahmad had a registered marriage on February 16, 2023, and they welcomed daughter, Raabiyaa, in September 2023.
Speaking about their interfaith marraige, the couple had told BT, “We are both very conscious and proud of our identities and nobody wants to change anybody. We planned things that are common to both our traditions. Haldi is something that happens in both. It’s called ubtan in Muslims. Mehendi happens on both sides. Sangeet happens on both sides. In India, an interfaith couple that does not convert, can only get married in the court under the Special Marriage Act. That we have done. Now we are trying to build a common tradition of celebrations.”
