Swara Bhasker condemns assault on Kangana Ranaut; criticizes her previous ‘justifications of violence’ that got her BANNED on Twitter |

Actress Swara Bhasker has spoken out against the recent incident where a CISF constable reportedly slapped fellow actress Kangana Ranaut on June 6. In her latest interview, the actress, who has often been critical of her former co-star, condemned the assault saying ‘it was wrong’.
The new mom, said in an interview with Connect Cine, “Anybody who is a reasonable person will say that whatever happened with Kangana was wrong.”
Reacting to allegations of Kangana not receiving any support from the film industry members, she said, “There is nobody who will justify the violence or an act of assault which Kangana suffered. So yes, what happened with her was wrong and shouldn’t have happened. It is not right to assault anyone.”Swara, who has worked with Kangana in ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and its sequel, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, further elaborated on the broader context of violence and noted that while the assault on Ranaut was condemnable, she also called out her former co-star for allegedly inciting violence.
“The problem with the Kangana case is that she herself has used her platform to justify violence. Her past tweets resurfaced, including the one for which she was banned from Twitter, where she has almost called for a genocide…”
Swara also noted how the internet had been digging out Ranaut’s old comments, where she had condoned Will Smith‘s behaviour at the Oscars and defended him for slapping Chris Rock. “Then she had also justified Will Smit slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, saying that if her mother or sister was abused, she would have also slapped someone. So now what do you say?” she asked.

Despite her criticism, Bhasker firmly condemned the assault saying, “What happened to her wasn’t right, and the one who did that has already been suspended and punished. So there, justice has been served,” she stated.
However, Bhasker contrasted this swift justice with the lack of accountability for more severe acts of violence in the country. “Kangana just got slapped–and even that should not have happened–but at least she is alive and has her security around. In this country, people have lost their lives, they’ve been lynched to death, shot dead in a train by security personnel, in riots, security personnel have been recorded beating up people.”
