Munjya‘ starring Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh and Abhay Verma is releasing in theatres today. The film is a horror comedy belonging to the makers of ‘Stree‘, as it’s produced by Dinesh Vijan and is a part of their horror comedy universe. The trailer had gotten a decent response and the makers have now released the movie in about 1600 screens.
While the buzz of the movie may not be at its peak, it’s expected that the film may garner a decent footfall with positive word of mouth. The duration of the movie is 2 hours, 3minutes and it has got a U/A certificate from the censor board. The advance booking of the movie seems better than expected as by thursday evening it has sold around 12,000 tickets in the top three chains. Some tickets were also sold for a late night show on Thursday. According to the early advance bookings so far, ‘Munjya’ is expected to earn around Rs 1.5 crore to 2 crore on Day 1.
The good part is that the distributors and exhibitors have come together to keep the ticket prices of the film. As of now, ‘Munjya’ is not facing much competition at the box office, except from ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ which is also slowing down now by the end of its week 1. So, one hopes that the film has good content which leads to positive word of mouth, thus reflecting in the numbers and footfalls.
The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.
