While promoting her new film ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,’ Janhvi Kapoor candidly shared her personal journey of overcoming insecurities. The actress revealed that she once struggled with body image issues and felt she was missing out on many human experiences.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Janhvi explained that she has always pursued personal, intellectual, and artistic growth, and dislikes stagnation in any form.Reflecting on her past, she admitted she used to be in a very different emotional space, overwhelmed by insecurity.
She shared that these feelings of insecurity were ingrained in her from a young age. Growing up, Janhvi felt like she was constantly being judged because of her background and the privilege associated with her family. In school, whenever she made friends, performed well, or received any opportunity, it was always linked to where she came from. It made it hard for her to understand her own value.

Janhvi also opened up about her struggle with self-worth, especially after the loss of her mother, the legendary actress Sridevi. She admitted to seeking validation from the wrong places during that difficult time.
When asked about her insecurities in her 20s, Janhvi revealed she was particularly insecure about her body and language. She explained how being in the media from a young age affected her. According to her, either she was being sexualized too much or not enough.
Another major insecurity for her was language. Janhvi was unsure if her Hindi was good enough, although she now feels very proud of it. She also questioned if she had enough real-world experiences, wondering if she had been too sheltered to understand the world fully.
‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,’ directed by Sharan Sharma, is set to release on May 31.
