Janhvi Kapoor, who is busy promoting her upcoming film, ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, recently revealed how the unexpected loss of her mother, the legendary Sridevi, changed her perspective and deepened her religious beliefs.
Janhvi reflected on her late mother Sridevi’s superstitious beliefs during an interview with The Lallantop. She mentioned Sridevi’s beliefs, like performing certain activities on specific dates, avoiding haircuts on Fridays to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, and refraining from wearing black on Fridays.Although Janhvi initially didn’t adhere to such superstitions, her mother’s passing led her to embrace them, fostering a deeper connection to religion and spirituality.

Janhvi shared her mother’s deep devotion to Lord Balaji of Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Sridevi often invoked his name, and used to visit the temple annually on her birthday during her acting career. After her marriage, she discontinued the practice. However, following her mother’s demise, Janhvi started visiting the temple every year on Sridevi’s birthday. Her first visit brought both emotional turmoil and profound mental solace.

The actor of ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ acknowledged that she hasn’t fully come to terms with her mother’s passing. Janhvi admitted she hasn’t processed it yet and now talks about her mother more as she finds solace in remembering her. During the promotion of her debut film ‘Dhadak,’ the loss was still fresh, and she used work as a means to escape reality. Reminders of her mother’s absence were difficult to handle amidst the chaos in her mind.

Janhvi mentioned that she believes time passing is the only solace, and she copes by recalling fond memories of her mother. In interviews, she frequently mentions her mother’s teachings and feels a sense of her presence, as if she’s temporarily away and will return.
