‘Madgaon Express’ box office collection: Kunal Kemmu’s directorial crosses Rs 35 crore mark on 51 day at the box office | Hindi Movie News



Known for his early success as a child actor, Kunal Kemmu transitioned to leading roles with varying degrees of success in films such as Kalyug, Go Goa Gone, and the Golmaal series. However, his directorial debut, ‘Madgaon Express,’ has achieved a rare feat by spending over 50 days at the box office. Released on March 22nd, the film has surpassed the Rs 35 crore mark on its 51st day, surpassing trade expectations that predicted its theatrical earnings to cap at Rs 30 crore.Kemmu pitched the film as ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara‘ for the underprivileged, an idea that was well-received by the original film’s producers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Despite a modest start, Madgaon Express earned Rs 13.5 crore in its debut week, followed by Rs 5.75 crore and Rs 5.4 crore in the second and third weeks, respectively. In the fourth week, the film earned Rs 3 crore, followed by Rs 2.4 crore in the fifth week, Rs 2.45 crore in the sixth week, and Rs 2.18 crore in the seventh week. On its 50th day, which fell on a Friday, the film managed to earn Rs 12 lakh. Saturday witnessed a remarkable surge in collections, jumping by over 100% to collect Rs 26 lakh, as reported by Sacnilk, thus bringing the film’s total collection to Rs 35.06 crore. In its 51 days at the box office, the film endured clashes with various releases like Crew, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Maidaan, etc.
The success of Madgaon Express has established Kunal Kemmu as a competent director in the industry, sparking interest in how he will navigate his acting and directorial careers in the future. He will soon be seen in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s web show Gulkanda Tales alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee.
