Raj Kapoor would make ‘Mera Naam Joker’ heroine sit on his lap and narrate scenes, says Ranjeet: ‘But he was not being flirtateous’ | Hindi Movie News



Ranjeet is known for his negative roles in Hindi cinema as he got stereotyped with those! Having said that, Ranjeet is a veteran and his acting prowess can’t be denied. In his long career, Ranjeet has made many friends and worked with some of the finest artistes. In a recent interview, Ranjeet also recalled his memories with the late Raj Kapoor who is considered a legend.
During a conversation with ANI, Ranjeet said, “Ranjeet added, “When I entered the studio, I saw life-size cut-outs of all the actresses who starred in his (Kapoor’s) films.” He further reminisced Kapoor’s bond with all his actress with an incident. Recalling a moment on the sets of ‘Mera Naam Joker’, Ranjeet said, “Mera Naam Joker picture thi na… uski heroine. He told us, ‘Mera Naam Joker ki heroine ko god mein bithakar scene samjhaaya hai (I made them sit on my lap and narrated the scenes). He wasn’t being flirtatious while doing so. He would call the actress ‘putar’ (daughter) when he asked her to sit on his lap”
‘Mera Naam Joker’ is considered one of the most iconic movies of Raj Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor played young Raj Kapoor in the movie and it starred Simi Garewal, Kseniya Ryabinkina, Padmini, Manoj Kumar and Dharmendra.
Talking about Raj Kapoor, Ranjeet also recalled his iconic parties. He said there were no inhibitions or formalities. Reena Roy would make parathas, Parveen Babi would make drinks, Moushumi Chattejee would make fish, Neetu Kapoor would make bhindi. It was that kind of atmostphere. Not just actresses had egos but all the heroes would also come together under one roof – from Feroz Khan, Dharmendra to Shatrughan Sinha – ‘name a hero and he was there!’, said the actor.
