Pooja Bhatt reveals if Mahesh Bhatt would go back to direction; shares her thoughts on Alia Bhatt’s choices as a producer – Exclusive |

With a career that mirrors the complexities of life itself, Pooja Bhatt‘s insights offer a glimpse into the inner workings of the industry, her personal growth, and her reflections on the changing dynamics of Bollywood. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Pooja opens up about the possibility of her father, Mahesh Bhatt, returning to direction and shares insights into her sister Alia Bhatt‘s burgeoning career as a producer.
When asked of if as a daughter she thinks Mahesh Bhatt should go back to direction or just mentor people, she said, “He has hung his gloves up after ‘Zakhm‘. ‘Sadak 2‘ was only a love letter to Sanjay Dutt because Sanjay Dutt had insisted. And Sanjay Dutt would not have taken instructions from anybody else. When you have a man like Sanjay Dutt who is a living embodiment of a lion in the jungle, very few people have the guts to sit next to a lion to begin with, even though Sanju is the biggest gentle giant that we know personally. But to the average person, he would be rather intimidating.”

Elaborating further, she added, “I told Bhatt Saab once, “Bhatt Saab you’re writing these scenes. But who will direct these scenes? Sanjay Dutt would not take instructions from anyone else. He would always look for you on the sets. Why are you doing that to somebody? So, make possible what is inevitable and direct it.” He had no desire to make a comeback. He was just doing the task. He has done Sadak 2 for Sanjay Dutt. Not for me, not for Alia, and not for Mukesh Bhatt.”

“And Sanju had once said, “Bhatt Saab, forget about everything else. I just want to be on the set with you once again and go back to the days in the nineties,” Pooja stated.

Sharing her thoughts on her sister Alia Bhatt’s choices as a producer, Pooja averred, “I think it’s wonderful. It’s the same thing that drove me to venture into production. At that time, I couldn’t leverage my stardom in the way she can. It’s wonderful. She is doing exciting new things and that tells you far more about her as a person than the roles she has done as an actor. What we are in might not be us but what we make is definitely us. I made ten movies. But those ten movies defined me as a personality.”
