Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff had once opened up about his humble beginnings in a heartfelt interview. The actor revealed that he still feels a deep connection to the chawl in Mumbai where he lived for 33 years before achieving fame in the Hindi film industry.

Speaking with Siddharth Kannan last year, Jackie shared that he often visits the chawl as it holds many emotional memories for him.

Recalling a recent visit, Jackie mentioned celebrating the birthday of an 89-year-old resident and reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances. He expressed gratitude for the 33 years he spent in the chawl, emphasizing that it will always have a special place in his heart.

During the interview, Jackie was also asked about his signature style of wearing a scarf on his hand and neck. Explaining the inspiration behind it, Jackie revealed his fondness for handkerchiefs and ‘bandhani’ prints. He reminisced about finding solace in holding his mother’s saree as a child, which instilled in him a love for soft fabrics. He also mentioned his love for the vibrant colors of ‘bandhani’ prints, which he incorporated into his attire, including his film “Rangeela.”

Jackie, known affectionately as ‘Jaggu Dada,’ also showcased his admiration for legendary actor Dev Anand, citing him as a source of inspiration. He fondly recalled using ‘bandhani’ prints in his film and even hummed a few lines from a Dev Anand song during the interview.
