In a poignant moment during the Oscars 2024, the late esteemed Indian art director, Nitin Desai, was honored in the Memoriam section. His daughter, Tanvi Nitin Desai, shared her sentiments on the touching tribute, saying, “This is such a bittersweet moment for us. We are deeply honored that The Academy recognized our father’s hard work by including him in the Memoriam at the 96th Oscar Awards. His contributions set the standards for the Indian film industry, and this stage has given him the international recognition he deserved.”

She further added, “We dearly miss him, and so does the entire world. He has always been a very hardworking man who thoroughly enjoyed what he did. Today, having the Academy recognize and honor him in such a way has filled our hearts with so much love and fondness.”

Nitin Desai carved a lasting legacy through prolific partnerships, notably with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, contributing to cinematic masterpieces like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ His indelible impact extended to collaborations with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ashutosh Gowarikar, and Rajkumar Hirani.
