Sonakshi Sinha: ‘Hope we get to see more women in workplaces’

Sonakshi Sinha, who reunites with ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on ‘Heeramandi’ after Rowdy Rathore, spoke about their journey, and upcoming OTT show at FICCI Frames 2024 in Mumbai.
Sonakshi said, “A lot of women have been conditioned and trained to doubt themselves for a very very long time and they just need that one push where someone tells them to go for it I am behind you. And there’s nothing to worry about. So the first step is very very imp. So would just encourage every other woman to do whatever they want to in life that they want to. Just go for it.”
Eloborating further, Sonakshi added, “I hope we get to see more women in workplaces. I have done two projects which were helmed by Indian directors..one was ‘Khandani Shafakhana’ and ‘Dahaad’. I think those have been some of the best experiences of my life and career and (it was fun) to be on a set run by women.”
The ‘Tevar’ actress also spoke about her collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She said, “Sanjay sir and I were trying to collaborate on stuff even before Heeramandi. He did produce a film of mine called Rowdy Rathore very very long back. And he has been fond of me. He has been very encouraging, praising me. We tried didn’t work out..but we were always in touch.”
“Every time I went to his office I sat with him chat over coffee. I got a call from ‘Heeramandi’. I sat in the room I was chilling there. We were talking and he came and I was like sir every time I come to your office we have coffee and then leave. I am not having coffee with you, I will have tea. I had tea then we had the same sort of conversation and then I went home and then I am in Heeramandi.” Sonakshi added.
‘Heeramandi’ also stars talented Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Shaikh in pivotal roles.
