‘Chamkila’: Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra starrer gets a release date; first poster out! |



Ever since the filmmaker Imtiaz Ali announced his biopic ‘Chamkila’ starring Diljit Dosanjh, it has been trending and making news for all the right reasons. On Monday, the makers dropped the much-awaited first poster for the film on social media.
The poster shows Diljit, looking different without his turban, entering holding an ektara and greeting the audience, who cheered for him.The film also stars Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife and singing partner.
Surprisingly, Parineeti and Diljit have also lent their voices to the film; the music was created by maestro AR Rahman. Along with the poster, the makers also revealed that the film is all set to release on April 12, 2024, on Netflix.

For those unaware, Amar Singh Chamkila was born into poverty in 1960 and rose to become one of the most popular singers the northern Indian state of Punjab has ever produced. In 1988, during the peak of his fame, he was shot and assassinated at the young age of 27. Alongside him, his wife and two band members lost their lives as well. To this day, the murders remain unresolved.
