Yami Gautam, the versatile actor who made her mark with the 2012 hit ‘Vicky Donor,’ recently opened up about her journey in the film industry. She shed light on her meticulous approach to choosing projects and the profound lessons learned along the way.
During her conversation with India Today, Yami mentioned the significance of following her gut feeling and intuition.She acknowledged the existence of external pressures and opinions that often surround individuals in the industry. However, in her opinion what matters then is that one doesn’t let fear dictate creative choices.

Reflecting on her journey, Yami spoke about the necessity of going back to her roots, reminiscing about her humble beginnings with ‘Vicky Donor.’ She acknowledged the unconventional nature of the film’s logline and the skepticism it might have initially garnered. She said she had to back herself and be comfortable with the choices she made when she decided to the movie.
Looking back at over a decade of her career, the actress, who is now expecting, expressed the importance of learning what not to do. She termed those experiences as pivotal in realizing her authentic self. As much as it is important to not let fear influence one’s work, it is essential to know what project doesn’t resonate with the actor.

She also mentioned that she wouldn’t take on a project solely for the sake of employment, highlighting the importance of meaningful and fulfilling work. Acknowledging the competitive nature of the industry, Yami emphasized the delicate balance between visibility and substance. She said she would not do the film just to be

employed or seen. She underlined her commitment to projects that resonate with her artistic sensibilities
Last but not least, the ‘Uri’ actor shared her philosophy on the challenges of life, emphasizing the necessity of finding joy in the struggle. She said the day one finds something that keeps him or her charged, and keeps the boat sailing, from that point, he or she is not struggling.
