R Madhavan and Jyotika’s last collaboration was in the hit film ‘Dumm Dumm Dumm‘ in 2001, where they portrayed on-screen lovers. Subsequently, they shared the screen in the romantic film ‘Priyamaana Thozhi‘ in 2003.
Now, nearly two decades later, the duo is set to come together again for a supernatural thriller titled ‘Shaitaan.’ Both Madhavan and Jyotika have expressed their excitement about this reunion and have opened up about their anticipation to work together once more after such a long time.

In a recent interview with the Free Press Journal, Jyotika expressed her thoughts on reuniting with R Madhavan after many years. Reflecting on their previous roles as the typical hero and heroine, she noted how being cast in more character-driven roles now highlights their evolution in the industry.

Madhavan humorously mentioned the contrast between their previous roles of romancing each other and their current dynamic in ‘Shaitaan,’ where Jyotika’s character is portrayed as determined to harm and even kill his character. They both chuckled, acknowledging the evolution in their on-screen dynamics over the years.

‘Shaitaan’ also features Ajay Devgn in the lead role alongside R Madhavan. The trailer for the film was unveiled on Thursday during an event held in Mumbai. Described as an edge-of-the-seat supernatural thriller, ‘Shaitaan’ showcases Ajay and R. Madhavan in intense and gripping roles.

The trailer begins with R Madhavan’s character entering Ajay Devgn’s house, where he asserts control over Devgn’s daughter, referring to her as his ‘katputli’ (puppet) and proclaiming himself as ‘bhagwaan’ (god). Throughout the trailer, viewers are treated to spine-chilling visuals featuring devilish symbols and motifs. Ajay Devgn and Jyothika are seen playing pivotal roles as they embark on a journey to unravel the mystery and fight for their daughter’s freedom amidst the ominous atmosphere portrayed in the trailer.
‘Shaitaan’ signifies Jyotika’s return to Bollywood after a hiatus of 25 years. Her last Hindi film was ‘Doli Saja Ke Rakhna’ in 1997. Subsequently, she ventured into the Tamil film industry, establishing herself as a prominent figure in the South. Jyotika made a brief comeback to Bollywood in 2001 with the bilingual film ‘Little John.’ The eagerly anticipated ‘Shaitaan’ is scheduled to release in theaters on March 8, 2024.
