The 10th season of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) has kick-started in Sharjah on Friday (February 23) between Mumbai Heroes and Kerala Strikers. The first match commenced with Salman Khan, the brand ambassador for Mumbai Heroes, flagging off the season. The Khans association with cricket goes way back, and recently Sohail Khan the owner of Mumbai Heroes opened up about how the sport was a part of his family, including his dad Salim Khan.
“My father is a cricket fanatic,” Sohail Khan told News18, during the promotional event of CCL 10. Sohail also recalled that his father played for the MP team, which was captained by his chacha. “My father played Ranji too. So, we all gravitated towards cricket,” he expressed.
Sohail Khan also revealed that he used to play football as well, as his parents always encouraged them to play physical sports. He reminisced about playing on the streets, cycling, and how street sports were a culture back then.

Walking down memory lane, Sohail Khan recalled their mom treating them with Dettol chatkas, when they come back home hurt!
Sohail Khan divulged that he also encourages his sons Nirvaan and Yohan to play outdoor sports. He revealed that Nirvaan plays both cricket and football “He’s back from LA and will probably assist someone and get his career started first. If he wants to be a part of the team at CCL, he needs to be a celebrity first! I would like him to get his act right first and take his father’s position and be a part of CCL,” Sohail said.
