‘Shogun’: Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai starrer scores perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score ahead of debut |



Shogun,’ the highly anticipated historical epic, adapted from James Clavell‘s acclaimed novel of the same name, is getting ready for its television debut next week, February 28. The show which promises to offer a fresh perspective on Japan’s culture, politics, and history, viewed through a Japanese lens, has already been garnering critical acclaim and the proof in a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The historical saga, tipped to be a ‘Japanese equivalent of Game Of Thrones’, has so far garnered a flawless critical rating, promising a good start for the upcoming show. Not many shows boast of this perfect score. Some include the sci-fi series ‘Dark’, ‘Fargo’ ,’Fleabag’, ‘Schitt’s Creek’, ‘Reservation Dogs’, ‘Veep’, ‘Yellowjackets’, ‘Peaky Blinders’, among others.

Set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, ‘Shogun’ aims to demystify the complexities of feudal Japan, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a rich and authentic portrayal of the era with this 10-part series. The show boasts of a stellar cast Anna Sawai as Lady Mariko, Hiroyuki Sanada as Lord Toranaga and Cosmo Jarvis as John Blackthrone.

According to the official plot, the limited series unravels in 17th-century Japan when a mysterious ship appears in a nearby village, leading to a civil war and unleashing a fight for survival for Lord Yoshii Toranaga as his enemies unite against him.
